Voted ‘Best Small Attraction in Devon’, Stuart Line Cruises is a multi-award-winning, family-run passenger boat company, based in the traditional seaside town of Exmouth, in Devon. Operating year-round for over 50 years, they offer a diverse range of cruises, from River Exe, Exeter Canal, Private Charter and Guided Bird Watching Cruises to day trips along the South Devon Coastline to the English Riviera Geopark and along England’s Only Natural UNESCO World Heritage Site, The Jurassic Coast.
Stuart Line Cruises’ boats are modern, exceptionally well-maintained and with open-top decks and heated lower saloons with large panoramic windows, offer comfort - whatever the weather! Spacious lower saloon decks feature non-fixed seating, tables and chairs, offering the perfect on-board café space.
We’ve all heard of – and most probably sampled - a glorious Devon Cream Tea but Stuart Line can offer something a little different – have you ever tasted a glorious Devon Cream Tea whilst cruising the magnificent Devon coastlines or beautiful River Exe, with ever-changing a simply stunning scenery? Perhaps not? Well, what are you waiting for?
Stuart Line Cruises’ vessels boast fully-licenced bars, from which attentive Crew offer waitress service throughout cruises, serving passengers in their seats or at their tables. Yep that’s right, you won’t even have to get up! The Stuart Line family are hugely passionate about good-quality, local produce, supporting local businesses and pride themselves on being able to offer a selection of local ales from Exeter Brewery, Gin from Copper Frog which is distilled in Exmouth and the all-important Devon Cream Tea, from the Devon Scone Company in East Devon, among many other irresistible treats to compliment your cruise!
During the summer months, passengers can cool off with an award-winning and exceptionally delicious ‘Purbeck’ ice cream, whilst aboard their cruise. Why Dorset ice cream I hear you say? Why not Devon? Well this is a fair question and the answer is simple. Like the Stuarts, their friends over at family-run ‘Purbeck Ice Cream’ are passionate about the Jurassic Coast! They share this in common and with every tub of ‘Purbeck’ ice cream sold, a donation is made to the Jurassic Coast Trust, who work tirelessly to maintain our precious East Devon coastline. The Stuart family too donate to the Jurassic Coast Trust and feel this partnership is a match made in heaven – or should I say DEVON!
During the winter months (including Christmas Day!), passengers can warm up with a complimentary homemade mulled wine and a warm, locally-produced mince pie – a devilishly delicious accompaniment to the glorious surroundings.
During their famous Guided Bird Watching Cruises, which operate on the calm-assured waters of the River Exe throughout the winter months from November to March, the on-board galley is very much open for business and always cooking up a storm! Passengers can keep warm with a hearty Devon pasty from multi-award-winning ‘Chunk of Devon’, based in Clyst St Mary or sip a delightful mug of hot organic soup, supplied by ‘Rod & Ben’s’, near Exeter. Comfort food at its absolute best!
Stuart Line Cruises offer Private Charter throughout the year and work with a selection of reputable local caterers, butchers and fish mongers, offering seasonal buffets, BBQs and Hog Roasts on board. They also host a wide selection of ‘Special Events’ throughout the year, offering unique visitor experiences, such as ‘Fish & Fizz’ – arguably, Devon’s best fish and chip Fridays - a brilliantly British evening, combining a scenic cruise of the tranquil River Exe or magnificent Devon coastline, with Krispies’ award-winning Fish & Chips and a glass of refreshing fizz – a match made in Devon! Other examples include their ‘Mother’s Day Cream Tea Cruise’ and their ‘Father’s Day Pasty and a Pint Cruise’ – both unique, noteworthy and entirely delicious experiences.
Stuart Line Cruises endeavour to cater for all dietary requirements wherever possible and are proud to offer vegetarian, vegan, gluten and dairy-free options. As part of their ongoing commitment to high standards of food safety and hygiene, their friendly Crew have all received relevant training and will be more than happy to help if you have any questions with regards to allergies or intolerance – just ask to see the on-board red folder!
Stuart Line Cruise is posted with Brown Tourism Signs from most major routes into Exmouth. Once you come in to Exmouth, follow the directions to Exmouth Seafront. Once on the seafront, turn right so that you are driving with the sea on your left. Go to the far right end of the seafront and our office is located next to the ‘Rockfish’ restaurant and opposite ‘The Beach’ pub. There is a private car park behind our office, very close to the boat departure points or alternatively, there is a car park at Camperdown Terrace, which is a 5-minute walk away.
Local GWR train links, Stagecoach buses, cycle or walk along the Exe Estuary Trail or catch the Exouth Land Train which runs during the summer from Maer Road Car Park along the seafront, near the Lifeboat Station?
