The star of the West End’s hit musical show, Movin’ Out, Darren Reeves, is bringing to the Torquay his world class tribute show celebrating the life and music of icon Billy Joel. The sensational show, Uptown Joel, will see Darren give a personal and heartfelt performance of Billy Joel’s Greatest Hits, including Piano Man, Just The Way You Are, Uptown Girl and Scenes From An Italian Restaurant.
Supported by a 5-piece live band, Uptown Joel celebrates the amazing song writing of this legendary artist - guaranteed to get toes tapping, faces smiling, voices singing and the heart of the theatre to beat once more. A mood boosting night out for family and friends alike.
Darren’s musical love affair with Billy Joel isn’t just a one hit wonder as he was spotted by one of Billy’s team whilst he performed on Broadway with Bjorn Again. Soon after, Billy chose Darren to play the demanding, energetic lead role of his Piano Man in London’s West End. The rest, you could say, is history.
Darren Reeves comments on his love of Billy Joel’s music and why he wants to get people back into theatres: “When I sing Billy’s songs, it’s like he’s in the room with me and if I can showcase his music to people – old fans and new fans - then I’m happy. The more I can share of him – the better – he’s a true legend!
“Taking the show to Torquay, isn’t just about me performing again after a quiet couple of years, it’s about re-installing the love people had for going to the theatre and hearing and seeing great music and live performances.
