Families are invited to follow a Halloween Trick or Treat Trail, while brave visitors can explore darker histories and experience a brand-new Ghost Walk beneath Torquay.
TORQUAY, DEVON - October 2026: This Halloween, Kents Cavern is inviting visitors to discover a different side of Britain’s oldest home, with a programme of family-friendly activities, darker historical tours and atmospheric after-dark experiences.
Running through October and into the half-term holiday, the Halloween programme offers three distinct ways to experience the extraordinary prehistoric caves: a Trick or Treat Trail for families, the limited-edition Go Darker guided tour, and the new Ghost Walk for those looking for something more unsettling.
From 17 October to 1 November, families can explore the caves on the Trick or Treat Trail, taking on Halloween challenges, solving their way through the underground passages and collecting a treat at the end. Included with cave admission, the trail offers a distinctive alternative to traditional Halloween activities, combining seasonal fun with the remarkable setting of Kents Cavern.
For visitors who prefer their Halloween with a darker edge, the Go Darker guided tour explores the mysterious marks, ancient rites, witchcraft, folklore and traditions that have shaped Devon’s history. Running from 17 October to 1 November, the experience reveals stories beyond the familiar prehistoric narrative, bringing the cave’s atmosphere and the region’s darker past to the forefront.
As evening falls, the new Ghost Walk, running from 15 October to 1 November on selected dates, invites visitors aged 12 and over into the ancient darkness of the caves. Drawing on the tradition of telling ghost stories, the experience explores tales of haunted homes, restless spirits and the strange things said to linger beyond our world.
With its dramatic underground chambers and extraordinary sense of deep time, Kents Cavern offers a uniquely atmospheric setting for Halloween. The programme brings together family adventure, history, folklore and supernatural storytelling, giving visitors the opportunity to choose their own level of fright.
Whether families are looking for a memorable half-term outing or older visitors want to discover the darker side of the season, Kents Cavern promises a Halloween experience unlike any other in Devon.
