Farm stays are a great way to escape from everyday life, they have plenty of space, so are ideal for large groups, families and travellers with dogs and, as most of them are independently run, you’ll find your hosts are always on hand – perfect for giving you the low down on hidden gems. Staying on a Devon farm will give you all the benefits of living like a local, the chance to enjoy some incredibly fresh, homegrown food and drink and – the best bit, getting up close and personal with the new baby lambs!

Back to Top of ListNear the town of Crediton, you’ll find a host of fabulous farm properties, including the Orchard Retreat which is set amongst some of the most beautiful countryside in the region. There are two renovated cottages on the farm, both with their own private and secure gardens, so you don’t need to worry about the kids wandering off! Throughout your stay you’re free to explore the 15-acre site, and the chance to experience cooking your meals over your own fire pit!
Not far from the outskirts of Exeter, you’ll find the Grange and the Deer Den, two properties located on an award winning farm. The Grange has its own 34ft heated swimming pool just seconds from the house, as well as its own private garden and orchard, while the Den has a wood fired hot tub, as well as plenty of space to enjoy.
Both properties have their own coop of chickens for you to look after and to provide you with all the eggs you could want for breakfast! They’re great options for larger groups as the Grange sleeps up to 10 and the Deer Den, 8. Being so secluded, you’ll find this is a great place to relax and you’ll regularly spot some of Devon’s beloved wildlife, including birds of prey, deer, rabbit and foxes around the farm. Despite being so rural, you can reach Exeter in around half an hour – giving you plenty of opportunity for enjoying the tranquillity of the country and the bustle of the city.
