The Budleigh Salterton Literary Fest returns next week, running from 20th-24th September, with well known authors and speakers heading to East Devon and will take place at venues all over the town. This year's event will also include a special tribute to the Festival's late honorary president, Dame Hilary Mantel.
The festival's line up includes Lemn Sidday, author, poet, playwright and broadcaster; Alexander McCall Smith; David Baddiel; Polly Toynbee; Alastair Campbell; Kate Mosse; Natalie Haynes; Charlie Higson and Kim Sherwood. The programme also includes three tributes to Dame Hilary Mantel, bringing together her agent, friends and actors from the stage adaptation of her novel, Wolf Hall. These along with a host of family friendly events and activities, are what makes Budleigh Salterton Literary Fest one of the premier literary events in the UK.
Speaking to local reporters, Festival Committee Chair, Sue Briggs, said: "We're thrilled to welcome such an inspiring and interesting range of authors to Budleigh Salterton. We are also pleased to have curated three events to commemorate our wonderful former president Dame Hilary Mantel, alongside such a range of diverse and fascinating speakers. Thank you as always to our committed team of volunteers who ensure our Festival is a success every year."
