Situated in our top paddock overlooking the beautiful Exe Valley we have three fully-equipped luxury safari tents – Oak, Maple and Birch.
Each tent has hot running water, electricity and Wi-Fi connectivity.
They sleep up to six with two bedrooms – one king, one twin plus a king-sized cabin bed which accommodates two children or adults!
Each tent has a bathroom at the rear containing a shower, toilet and sink. There is also a fully equipped kitchen with fridge freezer, gas hob, toaster and wood burning stove so you can get cosy as night time falls.
Next to this is a lounge area to play games, read a book or just chill out.
Outside there is a BBQ area for creating some culinary delights and for the traditional custom of marshmallow toasting. We also offer paella meal kits, which are a great alternative to a BBQ and we even do the washing up!
The best spot is probably a drink on the veranda overlooking the picturesque Exe Valley – you can even see a vineyard!
For children there is a small play area and box of garden games to really make the most of being outdoors and inside there is a cosy den to chill out in under the cabin bed. Adults also have the chance to get competitive on the boule court.
We welcome dogs, either one large or two small per tent, and we also provide dog bowls and treats.
We also have a small honesty shop on-site selling snacks and essential items. On Friday evenings our quirky courtyard bar is open from 5PM serving local Devon-produced ales, beers, ciders, wines and spirits. For children there are some fun games and activities.
There is the Fisherman’s Cot pub on the river and Bickleigh Mill within a 5 minute walk and other restaurants and pubs a short drive away.
There are many local attractions – next door is the Devon Railway Centre, and a short drive takes you to two national Trust properties, the Bear Trail, Diggerland, Crealy Adventure Park and a number of local breweries.
Within an hour you can also reach both national parks and award-winning sandy beaches on either the north or south coast.

From the north
Exit the M5 motorway at junction 27 and follow the A361 towards Tiverton. After about five minutes there is an exit – A396 Bickleigh, Tiverton. Take this and keep following the signs for Bickleigh or the brown sign for Devonshire’s Centre. When you arrive in Bickleigh, you will cross the River Exe over the historic Bickleigh Bridge – please note this is single file. After crossing turn immediately left towards Devonshire’s Centre – you will drive past the Devon Railway Centre and Bickleigh Mill. Keep going a further 100 metres and the entrance to the Valleyside Escapes glampsite is on the left hand side.
From the south
Exit the M5 motorway at junction 29, take the A30 exit to Honiton/Exeter Airport. Follow instructions on the sat nav. The Valleyside Escapes glamping site is situated on the A396 on the right hand side two minutes after the Bickleigh sign. The entrance is an access only road, the road immediately after the village centre sign. If you miss this don’t worry. Continue on the road but when you get to Bickleigh Bridge don’t go across and instead turn right into Devonshire’s Centre/The Devon Railway and Bickleigh Mill and continue to the end of the road, our entrance will then be on the left-hand side.
If travelling by train
Our closest train stations are either Tiverton Parkway or Exeter St David’s/Central. If arriving into Tiverton it is easiest to get to Valleyside Escapes by taxi and takes about 20 minutes. Please note there isn’t a taxi rank so book a taxi in advance. If travelling to Exeter you can hop on either the 55a, 55b and 155 Stagecoach bus. When arriving in Bickleigh the bus stop is located on the opposite side of the road to the entrance to our driveway. Alternatively grab a taxi from the rank outside the station.
Exeter airport is 25 minutes away and a taxi to transfer you to the glamping site can be arranged.
