Located within the Dartmoor National Park, yet only 4 miles from the A38, Ilsington is the ideal destination for touring South Devon. Family owned and run since 1998 and located in 10 acres of private land, you are sure of a warm welcome and a peaceful, relaxing stay.
The hotel has been owned and run by the Hassell family since 1998. They are fourth generation Devon hoteliers with a keen eye for detail and a team of staff who know how to make you feel at home. Packed with traditional character and a laid-back vibe so you can unwind in whatever way takes your fancy. There are two beautiful lounges which are perfect for a game of chess and a cream tea, of which there are three to choose from! You can even book some pre-dinner spa time, either in the pool or with one of our therapists. The hotel has 25 bedrooms ranging from standard rooms ideal for walkers and those with four legged friends, to deluxe rooms and family suites for those wishing a few more creature comforts. A choice of 2 dining options ensures all tastes are catered for. Our beautiful main Restaurant with 2 AA rosettes and stunning views of Dartmoor is open every evening for a 2 or 3-course dinner, along with breakfast each morning. Our more informal Blue Tiger bistro serves food and drinks throughout the day and also leads onto a large sun terrace with lovely views of Dartmoor. Comfortable lounges and the conservatory are ideal areas for a morning coffee, Devonshire cream tea or maybe a catch up of the daily news. Our restaurant is one of the most acclaimed in south Devon. It offers the perfect balance between traditional classics and comforting modern cooking, the fresh local produce inspires a diverse and regularly changing menu. All our cheese is from the West County and the free-range eggs are laid on site. The lamb, beef and pork featured on the menu are all born and bred on the moor and fish is from the day boats in the nearby town of Brixham.
The panoramic setting is engaging, so don’t forget your walking boots. The impressive Dartmoor National Park is literally on the doorstep and the hotel’s own ten acres offer ample room for exploring and are home to a flock of friendly chickens to enjoy. Walk, then lunch, cycle then sauna, horse ride, then stretch out. The hydrotherapy pool will soon ease away any aches and pains, the massages and facials in the Tibetan spa are sure to help rejuvenate.
The Spa, built in 2015 and winner of the South West Spa and Wellness Experience in 2017 is an area of complete calm and tranquillity. Beautifully furnished with an indoor pool, large hydrotherapy pool, steam room, sauna and fitness suite. In addition, there are treatment rooms to enhance your relaxation. With beautifully tiled floors, well finished changing rooms and the latest facilities, the Spa offers an exclusive corner of peace and tranquillity. Relax in the hydrotherapy pool and let the soothing bubbles envelop you, then take a seat in the sauna or steam room and surround yourself with the comforting aroma and sounds accompanied with mood lighting. Maybe time for a dip in the indoor pool and swim a few lengths before showering off and relaxing with a magazine at the pool side. The spa includes a heated pool, hydrotherapy pool, steam room, sauna, fitness suite with lifestyle equipment and a pool side shower including a kubel dusche, an elevated bucket of cool water, which tips on you when you pull the lever.
