Food Events

Devon’s heritage is steeped in farming and the county is well-known for producing some of the best fish, seafood, meat and vegetables in the UK. If food is an important part of your holidays in Devon, make sure you set aside some time for Devon’s various food festivals and events, or check out the regular farmers’ markets throughout the calendar and at most times of the year. However, there are larger events that can be easily integrated into family holidays in Devon, offering fun and entertainment for younger gastronomes, while the adults can get on with the serious business of sampling the best in local produce.

June sees the Dartington Food Fair offering up its wares, such as food and drink from over 50 local producers, such as Ashridge Cider and a masterclass in cookery from celebrated chef Mitch Tonks. (The hyperlink should be to South Devon)

The South Devon Crab Month takes place throughout August and virtually takes over the entire region. If you like crab, there’s nowhere else to be.

In April visit the Exeter Food Festival for Devon food and drink, children’s foodie workshops, music and entertainment. (need hyper link to HOD website)

September sees Abbfest catering to hundreds of visitors whilst Cockington Apple Day gives local producers a chance to get creative with Devon’s best-loved fruit.

If you’ve decided to visit Devon in the winter months, October could see you attending North Devon’s Foodfest and enjoying the best of the region’s produce.

Here are a selection of events in 2013.  If you would like to see all events that are due to run this year please go through to the relevant area of Devon websites, using the links above.
