Crediton Parish Church Christmas Tree Festival

Crediton Parish Church Christmas Tree Festival

About

Make a date in your diaries for the Crediton Parish Church Christmas Tree Festival between Thursday 7th and Sunday 10th December 2017. This year's Festival will open from 11am to 6pm on Thursday 7th and Friday 8th Dec, 10.30am to 7pm Saturday 9th Dec and on Sunday 10th Dec from 11am to 5pm. Admission is FREE, there is disabled access and free car parking.
Refreshments will be available in the Boniface Centre Christmas Cracker Cafe from 10am to 4pm on Thursday and Friday, 10am to 5pm on Saturday and on Sunday 2pm to 5pm.
This years Festival features over 70 illuminated and decorated trees ranging from 3 ft to over 25 feet in height. This fills the church with a spectacular display, especially as the natural light begins to fade!
Crediton Parish Church is a Grade 1 listed building, considered by many to be one of the finest in the country. Proceeds from both the Christmas Tree Festival and annual Flower Festival provide much needed funds towards the upkeep and maintenance of the Church. The Church is heavily dependent on donations, legacies and grant funding to deal with safety issues, keeping water out of the building and its structures and for bigger fabric projects. Current work includes north side drainage, painting churchyard railings and security improvements following recent break-ins.
The very popular and informative guided tours of the Governors' Room will be conducted daily at 12 noon and tours of the Bell Tower will follow at 2.00pm daily. In the Governors Room you will see floorboards dating from 1434, English Civil War artefacts, retired town criers bell, the signature of Sir Redvers Buller and silver coins from a hoard found in 1896. In the Bell Tower you can see 12 bells (only 4 towers in Devon have 12 bells), clock mechanism and redundant chime barrel(musical box) and massive oak beams dating from 1532.
North Creedy Choral Society will give a concert on Saturday 9th December from 7.30pm. Following the Christmas Tree Festival on Sunday 10th December at 6pm the Crediton Parish Church Choir will entertain you. Tickets available on the door for both concerts.
