CANCELLED - Brixham Fish Market Tours
Brixham Fish Market lands the biggest catch by value in England, with a regular turnover of more than £25 million a year. Over 40 species of fish and shellfish are regularly landed, one of the most diverse catches around the coast of the UK. Perfect marine conditions provide some of the best quality seafood in the world.
Buyers include local fishmongers and restaurants, alongside national and international companies who supply top restaurants and supermarkets. Approximately half of the seafood sold at the auction is exported worldwide.
You can take a look behind the scenes during a guided tour of the market. Now in their 11th year, tours continue to be very popular. You'll need to be up early to catch one as tours start when the auction opens at 6am. In 2019 the traditional 'shout' auction was upgraded to a brand new online clock auction, the first in the world, which continues to keep Brixham at the forefront of the international fishing industry.
Your tour will be guided by members of the fish market team, who have a wide range of experience in catching and selling seafood. Get a better understanding of the hard life of a fishermen from people who have spent years at sea, and find out about the trawlers moored alongside the quay.
After your tour visit Rockfish (in the same building) for a fantastic breakfast of freshly caught fish, before heading home at about 8:30am for the rest of your day!

Map & Directions
Follow signs to Brixham along the A3022. The best option is to park in the centre of town, or at Oxen Cove car park. For Oxen Cove, follow signs for the harbourside. Carry straight on at the Old Market House junction, then follow the road past the fish market and up the hill. As the hill curves round, take the right hand turn. Oxen Cove is at the bottom of this road and a footpath leads from the far end of the car park back towards the fish market.
Public Transport Directions
The number 12 bus serves Brixham from Torquay, Paignton and Newton Abbot. From the bus station, walk to the harbour and follow the harbour to the left. The fish market is at the far left end.
