There are big events taking place throughout the year in Devon and we’ve already added all our favourite annual events to our calendars for 2022. Here’s a suggestion of what’s on in 2022 for you to get excited about in the coming year.

British Firework Championships
Where: Plymouth When: August

Taking place since 1997, the championships are known as the premier annual display in the UK and attracts thousands to Plymouth every year. As well as the fireworks, you’ll also find live entertainment and amazing food and drink at Plymouth Hoe throughout the celebration.

Tar Barrel Rolling
Where: Ottery St Mary When: November

Though no one knows quite where this tradition came from, it is now an amazing annual event that fundraises for the local community.

Sidmouth Airshow
Where: Sidmouth When: August

Every year, the Sidmouth Airshow features amazing aerobatic displays from the Red Arrows as well as flybys from other famous aircraft. The event is one of the biggest in Sidmouth’s calendar and is often the end of a summer-long celebration which includes events such as the Regatta and the Folk Festival.

The Devon County Show
Where: Exeter When: May/June/July

Taking place in the summer months, 2022’s event is scheduled for the end of June and beginning of July. Running across three days, the show is one of the largest, annual agricultural shows in the country and can be found at the Westpoint Arena and Showground on the outskirts of Exeter.

Dartmouth Regatta
Where: Dartmouth When: August

The 2022 event will be the 177th regatta to take place in Dartmouth and is an amazing historical event, both on and off the water. It’s one of the oldest events of its kind and even received royal recognition from Queen Victoria, which is reason itself to experience it in 2022!
