If you’re stuck for Christmas gift ideas or have someone that is impossibly hard to buy for, why not give an experience and make some memories? There are plenty of attractions and activities in Devon that would make a perfect gift. Take a look at our suggestions and treat your loved one to something fun to look forward to in the new year!
For the thrill seeker:
You can find activity centres and experiences all over the county from surfing to rock climbing. One company offering climbing, mountaineering, caving and more is Crag 2 Mountain who operate on Dartmoor. Their adventures are accessible and affordable and are suitable for all age groups and abilities.

If you have an adventurer who would love to try a bit of everything, take a look at the family adventure breaks on offer from Skern Lodge where you can create your own adventure. Alternatively, there is Roadford Lake situated in the beautiful surroundings of the Wolf Valley. With everything from den building, woodlands walks, high ropes and more, there’s plenty to enjoy here.
Devon is also full of theme parks, including Woodlands Family Theme Park where you can spend the day taking on the biggest rides and enjoying the seasonal activities that are on offer.
For the whole family:
If you want something the whole family can enjoy, take a look at The Big Sheep, home to the world famous sheep racing. With eleven shows, child friendly rides, animals and the sheep show, it’s a fun day out for everyone.

For the nostalgic:
Devon is a hub of history, so why not treat the historian in your life to a fun day out immersed in nostalgia? Book a stay in the English Riviera and spend some time riding the Babbacombe Cliff Railway Built in 1926, it is the only way to travel from Babbacombe Downs to Oddicombe Beach. Or there is South Devon Railway in Buckfastleigh, which hosts a number of events throughout the year all centered on steam rail. The line passes through some of the prettiest countryside in the county and there is plenty to pique your interest with museums, workshops and more on site.
For the nature lovers:
If you know someone that loves being outdoors and the beauty of nature, why not think about a membership to an organisation like the RHS? RHS Rosemoor is an enchanting place to visit, whatever the season.
As well as beautiful outdoor attractions, Devon is also home to a number of great wildlife places like Paignton Zoo where you can find out more about all of your favourite animals.

Or treat them to a tour around the county with a difference. Stuart Line Cruises host a diverse range of cruises across areas including the Jurassic Coast and Exeter Canal as well as private charters and themed cruises like guided bird watching sessions.
