Beach trips aren’t just for the summer, in Devon there are a whole host of beaches that are just as fun to visit in the autumn as they are in warmer weather! Here are some of our favourites for day trips this time of year.
Paignton Sands
This beach in the English Riviera has striking red sand that is perfect for building sandcastles whatever the weather. Any beach with a pier gives you something interesting to look at no matter whether the sky is blue or grey and Paignton is full of shops, restaurants and more to keep you entertained.
As we continue into our ‘New Normal’ make sure to wear a face covering when asked and to follow the latest guidelines when visiting.
Barricane Beach
This beach near Woolacombe is a great beach for rockpooling and at this time of year, you can find lots of interesting things swimming around in them. Plus, this beach is open to dogs from October, so your furry friends can join you too!
Local legend says that exotic looking shells and stones can be found on the beach and these have travelled thousands of miles from the Caribbean and have arrived in perfect condition. Make sure to keep your eyes open for some!
Croyde
As one of the best beaches for surfers, the rougher weather brings bigger waves which in turn, brings more surfers and watersports enthusiast. They aren’t the only people who you’ll find at the beach at this time of year, this is another great beach for rockpooling and local families will often visit when it is quieter to explore. Plus, dogs can visit at this time of year too, so they can join you as you play in the dunes and explore the various walking trails.
