While we might have had some incredible weather in recent weeks with scorching temperature and plenty of sunshine, all good things must come to an end and as we get further into September, no doubt the weather will take a turn for the worst. Don’t worry though, Devon is just as fun in the rain as it is in the sun! There are a whole host of things to do on a rainy day, we’ve put together a few suggestions to get you started!
- Have a duvet day
Imagine being curled up in a comfortable bed, covered in soft quilts listening to the rain against the windows… It is truly the best way to spend a miserable day and with Devon’s range of accommodation, you’ll find a host of comfortable, homely places to stay all over the county. Take a look at some of the accommodation options here.

- Visit a theme or adventure park
When the skies open you might not fancy heading out into the wilderness for an adventure, but that doesn’t mean you have to stay in twiddling your thumbs. Devon is full of fun, family friendly theme parks and adventure centres with indoor attractions from rides to climbing walls to surf simulators – whatever you’re interested in you’ll find it in Devon.
- Learn something
Devon has a fascinating history with everything from iron age relics, pirates and even remains of Vikings and romans. We haven’t even mentioned the more recent history like WWII which you’ll also find plenty of in the county. Wherever you are there will be a museum or two where you can spend a few hours.
- Treat yourself
There’s no need to go outside and get wet, spend the day at a spa instead! There are a whole host of spa hotels offering a range of beauty treatments for guests and day visitors as well as independent spas and leisure centres with saunas, massages and more – so why not take this as an opportunity to pamper yourself?
