15th June 2020

With the social distancing measures still in place and many of our favourite attractions remaining closed for the moment, it can be hard to figure out how to celebrate this Father’s Day. If you are in Devon and you want a bit of inspiration, here are a few options that adhere to safety guidelines and still give you a chance to celebrate your dad.
As the weather starts to get warmer, why not take to the sea and learn a new skill?
North Devon is the surfing capital of the UK with the beaches at Saunton, Croyde, Putsborough and Woolacombe being havens for watersport fans. Many of the car parks in the area are starting to reopen for those who are local or have parking permits and we’ve put together a guide to help you use the beach safely, here. If you’re not in North Devon, there are plenty of surfing and watersport organisations around the county. Torbay and the Jurassic Coast also offer great opportunities to get out on the waves.
When it comes to Devon, it isn’t all about the coast, the countryside areas are equally as beautiful and you can easily get off the beaten track and explore either on a self guided tour. Throughout Devon you can find the South West Coast Path, alternatively, there is the Tarka Trail or the East Devon Way.
While your favourite restaurant might still be working to make themselves covid-19 proof, you don’t have to miss out on delicious food over Father’s Day, many cafes and restaurants are offering take away options and open air markets are trading again, so you’ll have plenty of options.
Whatever you choose to do this Father’s Day, we hope you have a wonderful time celebrating your father figures, just make sure that you do so safely and that you follow current government guidelines at all times.
