In response to yesterday’s Prime Minister’s statement, advising people to avoid unnecessary social contact, including in theatres, we regret to inform you that shows at the Babbacombe Theatre are temporarily suspended.
We understand that this decision comes as a disappointment, and a massive inconvenience for those of you who have bought tickets for upcoming shows, but ultimately we all want the same thing: the health and safety of our communities, and we believe this is the correct decision to make, albeit regrettable.
Given the current lack of clarity as to how long theatres are to remain closed, we hope to provide you with updates within the next 48 hours regarding the exchange of tickets. We will be consulting with all the touring show producers and when we have definite options for you regarding new show dates, everyone who has purchased tickets for any particular show, will take receipt of an email advising them of what those plans are.
Please be reminded we are a small team, and with one of those team members currently out of the country and unable to return in the current situation, we will make contact with you as soon as is physically possible, so your patience and understanding is appreciated.
We will contact YOU, it would assist us if you can wait on the email or a telephone call, if you have not provided us with an email- you will be advised on how to best make contact with us, if in the event after you have heard from us, you have any queries.
For now, we would like to thank you for your understanding and patience, and to recognise the incredible efforts and support of producers, artists, partners and customers over this difficult period.
Having taken over the Babbacombe Theatre to save it from closure in 1986 it would be unthinkable that this crisis will now see the end of this iconic venue. We are totally unsubsidised and get no financial support from the Council, Government, Arts Council or Lottery and rely on the success of our own productions and touring shows, which with our dedicated team has seen us through difficult times.
However in order to be still in business when this situation is over, we ask not only for your understanding as we reschedule shows, but that you consider making a donation if you feel inclined to support us in that way. If you so wish to make a donation you can do so via the Restoration Fund page on our website, accessible via this link https://babbacombe-theatre.ticketsolve.com/products/donation
Thank you for your continued support
Best wishes & Good Health
