Juliette, from Heathcliff House in Torquay was honoured to have been invited to take part in an interview on Radio Devon with Caroline Cook about her role as a super ambassador for England’s Coast.
For those who aren’t aware, England’s Coast is a tourism initiative that offers visitors to the coastlines of England a wealth of holiday experiences. Visitors are directed to the England’s Coast website, where you can watch videos, create an itinerary and find available accommodation. The point of the site is that you can really get away from the usual tourist spots and get off the beaten track and explore the rich heritage of England’s coasts.
The National Coastal Tourism Academy offers online training, which is designed to help create growth for coastal tourism businesses and Juliette is one of only six people to have completed all the modules.
It was this achievement that led to her being invited onto Radio Devon’s programme with Caroline Cook where the two talked about England’s Coast and the seaside resort of Torquay.
Juliette said: “As the owner of a bed and breakfast in Torquay, always striving to improve, I wanted to become an expert on my local coastal area, South Devon. The training developed my understanding of the needs of international visitors, ensuring that our guests from overseas have a great holiday and will recommend us to others.
“I went on and completed the other South West sections, I found that the additional information I’m able to provide about the south west coast is really inspiring for domestic visitors too. Once I’d completed the South West Module, I took the online ones for Norfolk and Suffolk as I was travelling to the east coast for a holiday. Then I thought I’d do the South East course and it snowballed from there.”
Being only one of six people who have completed all the online modules on the coastal areas of England, Juliette is now uniquely placed to help make a difference to overseas visitors who are travelling around the area.
She said: “I am passionate about our beautiful area of Devon, the only county with two coastlines, the English Riviera, the sandy beaches, beautiful fishing hamlets, tiny pebbled coves, stunning moors and rural landscapes. With so much to offer, why would you choose to go anywhere else?”
