Research from Premier Inn has found that Devon is the third most popular location in the UK featuring on Pinterest Holiday boards and the most pinned location is Torquay in the Torbay.
Premier Inn has researched over 500 locations on Pinterest to reveal where in the world is getting Pinned the most for holiday inspiration. The number of boards created for different cities around the world were analysed and those that were travel related were counted to reveal which cities are causing the most wanderlust according to Pinterest.
Devon came out as the third most pinned holiday region. Torquay is the most pinned town in Devon, followed by Salcombe, Dartmouth, Woolacombe, Brixham, Croyde, Exeter, Dawlish, Paignton, Totnes and Appledore.
The most popular pins on the Torquay boards include the English Riviera Wheel on the harbour, the harbour by night and Babbacombe Model Village. Salcombe’s boards are filled with pins of restaurants, sailing pictures and walks around Bolberry Down and Dartmouth’s steam railway is also a popular pin, alongside picnic spots and sunsets in Woolacombe and harbour images in Brixham.
In Dawlish the pins include the sand dunes and Warren Beach, while Croyde features surfing and nearby attractions and Exeter’s are full of city streets. The pins for Paignton are mostly the zoo, the town pier and the Quaywest Water Park. Photos of the River Dart, Sharpham Vineyard Estate and the castle can be seen on Totnes’ boards and in Appledore it is all colourful houses and shops.
According to the research, the top ten Popular Holiday Regions on Pinterest are:
Cornwall with 988 boards, the most pinned place in Cornwall in St Ives
Wales with 912 boards, the most pinned place in Wales is Snowdonia
Devon with 679 boards, the most pinned place in Devon is Torquay
Norfolk with 381 boards, the most pinned place in Norfolk is Great Yarmouth
Yorkshire with 364 boards, the most pinned place in Yorkshire is Whitby
Lake District with 275 boards, the most pinned place in Lake District is Ambleside
Dorset with 231 boards, the most pinned place in Dorset is Weymouth
Cotswolds with 180 boards
Suffolk with 145 boards, the most pinned place in Suffolk is Bury St Edmunds
Somerset with 137 boards, the most pinned place is Bath.
