While Christmas is supposed to a time for rest and relaxation, we know that it can actually be a very busy time of year, so why not start 2020 with a little bit of R and R with a spa break in Devon. Many of Devon’s spa hotels are set in acres of beautiful countryside giving you the peace and tranquillity you need. Others are located in the heart of popular towns so you can easily run in for a treatment and get back to your everyday life rejuvenated.

Let’s start off in the north of Devon.
Many of the spa hotels in this region have impressive views of the stunning coastline, while others are surrounded by scenic countryside. One that is on the seafront is Saunton Sands Hotel. This luxury hotel is right on Saunton beach and features spa and beauty treatments from the exclusive Temple Spa brand, an indoor and outdoor heated pool, sauna, tennis courts, restaurant and a range of beauty therapies including an onsite hairdresser. You can really take New Year New You to a whole new level with a new haircut too!

Alternatively, the Barnstaple Hotel is just fifteen minutes from the town centre and only a short drive to nearby beaches. Hotel guests are welcome to use the leisure facilities for free throughout their stay while a small charge is in place for those that just need a bit of rejuvenation while staying elsewhere. The facilities at the hotel include a gym and two pools, giving you plenty of chances to refresh yourself ready for the upcoming year.
For a countryside hotel, take a look at Highbullen Hotel Golf and Country Club. The hotel is home to the Highbullen ELEMIS Spa which has everything a jacuzzi, a steam room, sauna and the indoor and outdoor pool, plus a number of packages focused on specific treatments, such as skin or muscles.
South Devon has a number of spa hotels at various locations from the quiet rural areas to the popular holiday resorts.
In the English Riviera, one of the more popular tourist destinations in the south of Devon, there are several spa hotels giving you the best of both worlds – quiet while being close to civilisation.
In Torquay is the TLH Leisure Resort. Situated in the heart of the town, this resort gives you the options to create a truly bespoke break with your choice of accommodation and access to all the resort’s leisure facilities. The facilities include a 25 meter indoor pool complex, poolside sauna, spa pool, steam room and a gym as well as the Aztec Spa where you can pamper yourself with a range of luxury ELEMIS treatments. Also in Torquay is the Headland Hotel and Spa which sits majestically on the headland looking out to the sea. The hotel is home to the Hydro Spa, which is perfect for those that want to unwind. You’ll find three hydrotherapy swim spas, a hot tub, steam room, sauna and gym as well as a range of beauty treatments.

Torquay isn’t the only area in the Torbay that has options for spa hotels, nearby Babbacombe is where you’ll find the Cary Arms and Spa, a smaller boutique hotel with all the luxury of a traditional spa hotel. The spa overlooks Babbacombe Bay giving you stunning views of the coast. While Paignton has the Palace Hotel and Spa which is conveniently set on the town’s Esplanade and directly opposite the seafront. It is here that you’ll find the Genisis Health Suite which has a number of facilities for hotel guests to use for free.
Further along the coast you’ll find Salcombe Harbour Hotel and Spa. This hotel is sat in one of the most beautiful locations and has some stunning views whatever time of year you visit and with Salcombe Estuary and Harbour being part of the AONB you’ll see why this is a popular place for weddings and those looking for a relaxing break. The Har Spa has five treatment rooms as well as a heated indoor pool, a hot tub, sauna and fitness area. The spa has a partnership with ESPA, so their top of the range products are used for beauty and leisure treatments.

Nearby is the town of Kingsbridge where you’ll find the Thurlestone Hotel, a luxury hotel set in 19 acres that has been run by the same family for over 100 years. Aside from the onsite spa, there is also a beautiful coastal golf course, so you have plenty of opportunity to relax and rejuvenate.
On the edge of Dartmoor in an idyllic location is Boringdon Hall Hotel and Spa. Based in a former Elizabethan manor house, the hotel and spa offers pure luxury. The Gaia Spa features an infinity pool, hydrotherapy pool, crystal salt steam rooms, aromatherapy rooms, herbal saunas and shower experiences, a state of the art gym and even a champagne service in the beauty salon!
