26th September 2019
Categories: Visitor News
Calling all tea lovers! An Autumn Tea Festival, new for this year, will be taking place this November at Agatha Christie’s holiday home, Greenway, now cared for by the National Trust.
On Saturdays and Sundays from 9th – 24th November visitors will be able to enjoy a range of tea related activities such as talks, walks and tea tastings. Talks and walks with the garden team will give visitors the opportunity to learn about the Camellia plant and how it’s used to make tea. Whilst tea tastings in the house kitchen will give visitors the chance to discover a new favourite. In addition to the tea activities you’ll also be able to join in on pop up talks around the house, unveiling pieces from Agatha Christie’s collection not normally open to the public. It’s the perfect opportunity to relax, sip and experience the world of tea, all in the beautiful surroundings of Greenway.
The Barn Café at Greenway will also be open and offering decadent afternoon tea creations with both sweet and savoury treats on offer, themed around the National Trust estate. ‘The Boathouse’ High Tea will feature Salcombe crab and tea smoked trout alongside lemon and poppy seed scones. There’ll even be a mini high tea for younger visitors.
Throughout the October half term and November weekends families can crunch through fallen leaves on the tea time trail around the garden, learning more about tea and finding out the answers to important questions such as “what do squirrels like for tea?” Inside, a colourful tea pot trail will lead little ones through the house.
Following the successful Camellia Festival in March and the properties first Literary Festival in June, which featured award winning author Ann Cleeves, the Autumn Tea Festival is the final festival of the year celebrating 10 years since Greenway was first opened to the public.
