Whether you want to spruce up the ‘gram or you just want to show off your camera skills, Devon is a great place to go for budding photographers. There are plenty of gorgeous coastlines, countryside areas and of course, the wild moors to capture, so we’ve put together ten of our favourite spots for taking photos, can you think of any more? You can get in touch with us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
Valley of the Rocks
Lying just outside Lynton and Lynmouth, this area is an amazing place to capture the sun rising (or setting if you don’t fancy getting up that early) or just enjoying the landscape. You can easily trick someone into thinking you’re somewhere exotic, like New Zealand or South Africa.
Dartmoor
It doesn’t matter where you are in Dartmoor, you are surrounded by beautiful scenery, ponies and more, you’ll quite easily use up all the memory on your camera/phone just snapping away.
Clovelly
Need we say more? The whole village is gorgeous.
Woolacombe
This popular family resort is also a good place to go for anyone wanting that perfect beach shot. Head there during sunset to capture the light on the waves and watch those Instagram likes roll in.
Plymouth Hoe
This is one of the most photographed spots in the county, so we kind of had to include it here. Grab the perfect shot by getting Smeaton’s Tower in the foreground and then the view of Plymouth Sound out behind it.
The Jurassic Coast
For the best shot, go to Beer Head and point your camera along the Jurassic Coast towards Sidmouth for a great shot of the cliffs. Its pretty picturesque all year around, but head there in spring to catch the birds coming in to nest.
Exmoor
We’ve mentioned one moor, so we have to mention the other. Exmoor is full of wild beauty so its great to capture in the autumn when everything is orange and has that lovely warm glow.
Brixham
The town really lights up at night when everyone lining the harbour starts switching on their lights and settling down for the night. Get the perfect shot by settling down in the harbour and catching the lights dappling across the water.
Exeter
The city centre is full of great buildings to take pictures of, especially the cathedral and the museums, plus there are the historic looking streets and the quay all of which will be great additions to your portfolio.
Dartmouth
This is one of south Devon’s prettiest towns, the whole asthetic of the shop fronts and buildings is so charming and there is the surrounding countryside and the River Dart flowing away alongside.
Have any of these places caught your fancy? We’d love to see your photos, tag us on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook.
