30th May 2019
Categories: Visitor News
The team over at DayOutWithTheKids have searched the UK to find the country’s best seaside towns and resorts for 2019 and unsurprisingly, several of Devon’s coastal towns have appeared in the top 50, with Torquay coming in at number three.
DayOutWithTheKids asked over 2,000 families what their favourite seaside towns were both as a child and as an adult. All the suggestions were then whittled down to those that had nearby family attractions, nearby beaches, the quality of the fish and chips on offer, the cost of the ice creams, the average temperature, how many rainy days on average there were during the summer and of course, the number of Instagram hashtags and other social media check ins at each site.
Out of the 378 locations, the top fifty have now been published and ranked as Gold, Silver or Bronze.
The Gold towns includes the top ten which were the best all rounders, number 11-25 make up Silver, while 26-50 are Bronze towns.
Torquay and Paignton both made the top ten being named Gold, while Woolacombe, Exmouth and Dawlish were in the top 25 and ranked Silver. Ilfracombe, Salcombe and Teignmouth also made the top fifty.
The top ten are as follows:
Bournemouth
Brighton
Torquay
Weymouth
Blackpool
St Ives
Newquay
Paignton
Whitby
Bognor Regis.
