Categories: Visitor News
If you're looking for something to do this Bank Holiday Weekend, make sure to check out the South Devon Railway's popular Spring Beer Festival, once again taking place at the scenic Staverton Station, the mid point of the seven-mile line which is celebrating its 50h Golden Anniversary Year of reopening this year!
The festival will run from 24th - 27th May and will have over 45 real ales and ciders on offer, plus craft beer, wine, prosecco, pimms and new for this year, a cocktail bar! If you are visiting the festival, there is no car parking at Staverton, though, if you're planning on drinking, don't drive anyway! Take the train from Buckfastleigh, where there’s a large, free car park or, the station at Totnes Riverside is about a 500 yard walk from the main line station.
The bar will be open from 11.00am until late (6.00pm Monday). Food and light refreshments will be available throughout the day. You can also treat yourself to the barbecue on Friday and Saturday evening, with chilli and a quiz on Sunday evening. Whether or not you’re visiting the festival, there are steam and heritage diesel services running all day, every day and, at Buckfastleigh, the 1964 London Transport red Routemaster bus will be giving rides up to Ashburton.
