The Sutton Harbour lock footbridge reopened over the Easter bank holiday weekend after being shut for over a year and a half after the bearing broke meaning that Sutton Harbour is now easily accessible again.
The footbridge was fitted over 20 years ago as part of the installation of the Sutton Harbour lock gates, which is there to manage flood risks as well as marine traffic entering the harbour. In the summer of 2017, it broke which meant that people were having to go all around the harbour to reach attractions such as the National Marine Aquarium.
The footbridge will now be open to the public between 6am and 11pm, seven days a week, except for Christmas Day, allowing easy access to a whole host of harbour side attractions and entertainment.
