When you come to stay in an area like Devon, which is large and diverse with lots of exciting places to visit and explore, you might think you need a car to see all of it, but that isn’t the case!
Devon has an extensive public transport network with buses and trains linking up all across the county. There are also opportunities for follow cycle or walking routes or if you fancy being in the lap of luxury, you could always have someone else drive you around!
Here are our top reasons for leaving the car at home:
Eco-tourism is getting more and more popular and as Devon is home to so many natural beauties, it is no wonder that so many of the businesses here work hard to keep it that way. Rather than driving, why not have a more environmentally friendly trip and use the buses, trains and cycle/walking trails instead?
Devon is full of country lanes and while some of us love nothing more than driving through these winding roads, it isn’t always pleasant, especially for those that don’t know much about the area. Avoid them completely by using public transport and enjoy the scenery instead of worrying about being lost in it.
If you’re driving, you are too busy concentrating on the road to have conversations or just engage with each other, whether you’re taking a ferry ride, coach trip or train ride, you’ll have much more time to sit and relax and enjoy each other’s company.
It’s had to enjoy the scenery when you’re driving and following sat navs, travelling by train is a particularly good way to see the scenery especially following the coastal rail route.
Think of all that leg room you’ll get on other means of transport? Think of the air con, the heating, the free WiFi.
