For those wanting to stay in South Devon, you have the option of parks in the popular English Riviera, the beautiful south Devon coast and accommodation near the city of Plymouth.

In Dawlish Warren, which is in the Torbay area, there is Welcome Family Holiday Park, which has been a staple part of the town for over 50 years. Elsewhere in the Torbay is the charming town of Brixham, which is famous for fresh fish and seafood and has a rich maritime history. Set above the bustling harbour is the award winning South Bay Holiday Park. Located along the South West Coast Path near St Mary’s Bay, this is a great location for walkers and with the range of onsite activities, you’ll find it hard to fit everything in!

Nestled in a secluded valley among 80 acres of countryside is Cofton Holidays where you can choose from a stunning selection of holiday homes – whether you want something small and cosy for just the two of you or an apartment for the whole family you’ll find it here. Not only is Cofton Holidays located near the coast, but it is also just 12 miles from Exeter, so there is plenty to see and do here. Not only that, but there is a train station just a short walk away, so you can leave the car at home and still explore the wider area! This is a great choice for anyone looking for an action packed holiday – the onsite pools and spa facilities, fishing lakes and arcades mean there is always something to do.

If you like the idea of being able to visit the city during your stay, Bovisand Lodge Holiday Park near Plymouth is a good choice. The site has spectacular views of Plymouth’s Breakwater and the coast, while being located in a tranquil wooded valley, giving you the best of both worlds. The city centre is just seven miles away, should you want to explore, but the park’s pools and saunas, as well as the sports facilities will keep you pretty busy too.

Devon is full of independent holiday parks, but there are a few familiar sounding chains in the region too, including Park Dean who have a site near Bigbury on Sea. The Challaborough Bay Holiday Park gives you easy access to one of the most famous beaches in the county and Burgh Island, which was the setting for one of Agatha Christie’s most popular books. For a holiday park with a difference, take a look at booking a stay with Twitchen House Holiday Park. With a charming Edwardian manor house at its centre and nestled within a relaxing woodland, this park has a different atmosphere and look to the traditional holiday park. There are a host of free all weather activities including its own cinema and a bush craft survival school! If you want to visit the coast, the park is next to Woolacombe Beach and the tower flume with its two 80ft waterslides gives you plenty of chances to get the heart racing!

For something a little quieter, take a look at Combe Martin Beach Holiday Park. Set in a beautiful valley with sea views from all around and calming woodland to explore, this is a wonderful destination for families, couples and groups alike. The park has its own private beach and the club house is a hive of activity.

East Devon is ideal for those of you that like access to both coast and country. Its also where you can find the iconic Jurassic Coast with its millions of years of history and beautiful scenery.

As we’ve covered the various parks available at the coast, here are a few that are more rural. Plus, as these options are in Mid Devon, you’re equi-distance from both the North and South coasts.

Langstone Manor Park can be found in the middle of open country side and is the ideal place to relax with no traffic noise and stunning night skies. The town of Tavistock is a short journey away and the Dartmoor National Park borders the site giving you plenty of space to explore.  

Alternatively on the outskirts of Exeter is Castle Brake Holiday Park. While not a large park, the facilities are superb and guests are welcome to use the facilities at their sister site at Ladram Bay. The bar and restaurant gives you a break from having to cook or you can visit the city to enjoy a range of eateries and bars.
