This time of year is a great time to visit Devon’s many parks and gardens, unlike in the summer when they are likely to be overcrowded and busy or in the winter, when the weather is cold and the plants are starting to shrink back, visiting parks and gardens at this time of year, you’ll see the plants changing colour and the first shoots coming through.
There are many beautiful parks and gardens in Devon to visit, but we put together a selection of our favourites for you to explore and watch the seasons change.

Find RHS Garden Rosemoor in Great Torrington, the Torridge Valley is a beautiful setting even without the enchanting gardens. There are a whole host of events held all over the year, including workshops, music events and outdoor theatre performances that you can enjoy while looking around the plants. For those of you that love your gardens and find yourself inspired by your trip, you’ll be able to pick up plants at the RHS Plant Centre.

Fursdon House is one of Devon’s oldest family homes and is situated in the Exeter region. It is a great family friendly destination, not only can you enjoy exploring the stately home, but there are also the gardens to stroll though. There are vistas and views throughout the garden and it is home to several species of wildlife.

If you want something a little more exciting than looking at newly growing plants and sculptured gardens, head to Haldon Forest Park. This park offers something for everyone, gentle strolls, mountain biking and more! It’s just fifteen minutes from the centre of Exeter and there are plenty of activities to keep the kids amused whatever the season.
