Family-run Beverley Holidays was celebrated as one of Britain's most outstanding family businesses this Summer at London's Wembley Stadium. The Paignton holiday park group was among those selected to tread the red carpet at the 2018 National Family Business Awards after winning through to the glittering finals.
Founded 60 years ago by the same family which remains at its helm today, Beverley Holidays was the sole representative of the UK Holiday Parks industry at the prestigious event. Organised by Britain's largest network of family-run companies, the annual awards are designed to highlight the important roles played by family-run businesses. Beverley Holidays, which employs around 180 team members in high season, was among those taking a bow at Wembley for supporting local economies and creating jobs.
Joining the VIP guest list was Beverley Holidays' director, Claire Flowers, whose grandparents, Stanely and Marion Jeavons, first set the business in motion in 1958. The park's location alongside some of Devon's finest beaches and its reputation for a friendly and welcoming atmosphere soon won it a large following. Now under the ownership of the family's third generation, it today provides a raft of staying options, including hot tub holiday caravans, sea view lodges, camping and touring facilities.
There's also a wealth of family-friendly leisure and entertainment facilities, but unchanged, says Claire, is the emphasis on hospitality and helping guests feel at home.
"It was great to be nominated for the National Family Business Awards, not least because the judges were looking especially at the quality of service offered to customers. This is where family firms often score highly because, like us, they knowthat their success has always been dependent on delivering consisitently high standards.
"In fact, the vast majority of all our guests each year are either repeat visitors or those coming as a result of personal approach is often highlighted in our many glowing reviews," added Claire.
