If you love seafood you won’t want to miss out on this!
Starting on the 22nd September for two weeks, Devon will play host to England’s Seafood Feast where you can eat some of the best seafood in the world and experience the beautiful English Riviera.
Of course, the Seafood Feast is the perfect opportunity to sample some amazing fresh food, so why not start off your adventure in Brixham? The Brixham Fish Market is after all, one of the most famous places in Britain for fresh, delicious sea food. There are tours of the market available to give you a chance to see behind the scenes of the famous market, the tour includes breakfast at Rockfish.
A key part of England’s Seafood Feast is the opportunity to eat lots of world class fish, so staying somewhere that is self catering is always a good shout, so if you wanted to make a little holiday out of your visit, you could always try staying at one of these places:
South Bay Holiday Park is set above the bustling harbour and is fantastic for families, so you can really make a fun trip out of venturing to Devon for the feast. The Holiday Park has swimming pools to help you work off all that food and has a range of activities and entertainment onsite to keep you occupied.

If you want a real seaside camping experience head to Galmpton Touring Park, they cater exclusively for touring caravans, tents and motorhomes, giving you access to Torbay, Brixham and the neighbouring areas so you can combine you trip to the Feast with a little sightseeing.
If you’re someone who wants a touch of luxury, don’t fret, take a look at the Driftwood Boutique B&B, situated in the heart of Brixham harbour, you’ll have the freedom to spend the day eating beautiful fresh seafood at the festival and the safe knowledge that further delicious food will be provided in the morning for your breakfast! If you fancy a bit of history, you can visit Beacon House, a B&B housed in a Victorian building that overlooks the harbour and is just five minutes to the harbour!
Staying in Devon for the weekend need not confine you to a hotel or B&B, Harbour Reach Holidays is a real home from home offering flats suitable for families and larger groups that give spectacular views of Brixham and is well placed for enjoying some of the other nearby attractions.
You might find yourself needing to compromise as part of the FEAST is that the coast’s best seafood restaurants will be offering an array of set menus and events to celebrate the amazing fresh seafood, all sourced in and around Brixham. There will be cookery workshops, wine tasting and coastal foraging tours to keep you entertained. So whether your taste is for fish and chips or for a five course tasting menu, you’ll find something to suit you.
In between all those meals and of course, in between the arguing as you decide where to try next, there is plenty for you to do. You could take in some of the sights and sounds of Brixham, Torbay, Paignton and the surrounding areas or perhaps challenge yourself to some watersports, such as kayaking, paddle boarding or boating.
Living Coasts, Torquay’s award-winning coastal zoo is just four miles away and will allow you to learn more about the marine life surrounding Devon’s coasts and if you are a big fan of visiting animals when you’re on holiday, you’re also close to Paignton Zoo, where you can join in one of the many activities with their resident penguins. Or if extinct animals are more your thing, you have to visit Torquay’s Dinosaur World, the perfect day out for kids and grownups alike!
Splashdown Quaywest | Paignton
If you really want to work up an appetite, Splashdown Quaywest, the UKs largest outdoor waterpark, is close to all the above properties and is perfect for all the families. Head there for the day before venturing back to sample some more amazing sea food.
There are amazing award-winning restaurants all across the coast that are participating in the event, including the Cary Arms, who are putting on a seafood lunch menu especially for Seafood Feast and the Queens Hotel is offering traditional fish and chips, with a drink included, make sure not to miss out!
