Devon marked one of the most popular counties in England
According to a YouGov survey, Devon is in the top three most popular counties. It shared the top spot with Dorset, with neighbouring Cornwall coming in third. Both Devon and Dorset scored 92%, with Cornwall just below them on 91%.
It isn’t surprising that Devon has be listed at the top of the list, it is home to AONB, a whole coastline of popular beaches, two national parks and of course, plenty of amazing accommodation and attraction options for visitors.
It is also home to a proper cream tea and arguably, is the origin of the Cornish Pasty.
All the top five were in the South West, with the exception of North Yorkshire, fourth place, with 87% saying it was their favourite place.
Speaking to news outlets, Amelia Brophy, head of data products UK at YouGov, said: “Our data indicates that Britons have a real affinity towards cities that can boast a rich history and impressive architecture. When it comes to counties, the top of our list is dominated by places that have been popular holiday destinations for generations, due to their natural beauty and idyllic scenery.”
We couldn’t agree more, Devon is our favourite spot too.
