If you’re in the market for a bit of retail therapy, you’ll find plenty to pique your interest while in Devon.
Yes, we have beautiful beaches, scenic villages and wonderful countryside, but we also have some of the best shopping experiences in the country and can cater for those looking for unique boutique shops to big high street shopping centres.
If you’re looking for the best of the high street and some designer goods, you will be spoilt for choice, you can take in the outlet stores at Trago Mills, Affinity Devon in Bideford or the Princesshay mall in Exeter.
All the big shopping venues in Devon offer a mixture of indoor and outdoor shopping with high street brands, refreshments and more. The Princesshay is a multi-million pound development with specialist shopping and dining areas.
Fleet Walk is located in the in the heart of Torquay Town Centre and is home to over 50 of the best high street names, alongside independent shops.
Perhaps you want to find something a bit different, in which case, you’ll want to take a look at some of the independent shops. Totnes is a great place to start especially if you’re looking for art. You’ll find The Shops at Dartington a collection of shop including high street names and independent retailers, there’s plenty to do on site as regular events are also held here. From there you can head to some of our market towns, such as Barnstaple home to the Pannier Market and South Molton where you’ll find winding lanes full of quaint shops selling a whole host of interesting merchandise.
Devon is a hive of artists so you’ll find plenty of artisan goods, from chocolate to crafts while exploring. There are also daily farmer’s markets across the county so you can pick up some local produce or alternatively, head to one of our farm shops to sample some of our locally made wines, cheeses and more. Visiting these shops will also guarantee you the chance to take the weight off in their cafes and find out more about how the food is produced.
If you are a fan of antiques, there are plenty of opportunities for you to debate whether or not you really need another vintage chair as there are antique stores aplenty in Devon. You can buy everything from furniture to ornaments and any number of things you can think of! Head to Honiton where you’ll find a whole host of antiques!
