No one is in any doubt that the UK has a breadth of stunning scenery to explore, whether it’s woodland, moorland or coastal and Devon is lucky to encompass all these elements. This month is National Walking Month and walking is a cheap, easy way to experience the beautiful landscapes on our doorstep. Last minute UK holiday rental provider, Snaptrip, who have accommodation across Devon, have put together some top picks for the best walks in the country, big and small!
Snaptrip's recommendation for a walk around Devon is one you can do with your canine friend, Killerton in Devon has miles of tracks and paths and is great exercise for you and the dogs alike! As it is somewhere that is dog walkers use, you can keep your eyes open for water bowls, dog waste bins and hitching posts throughout your walk. There's even a hose at the end of the path to save your car from muddy paws! Be sure to check Snaptrip's website for dog friendly accommodation in Devon so you too can experience the paths in Killerton.

Other walks in their list includes Ashdown Forest in Sussex, which takes you on key locations through the Winnie the Pooh books, such as the Enchanted Place. The long Pooh walk covers 3.25Km and takes you through the North Pole to the Gloomy Place. There is also an option to take The Short Pooh Walk for younger children, that’s only 1km long. These two strolls are perfect for a family outing or even just to reminisce on one of your favourite childhood books.
If literary walks are your thing, they also recommend The Dark Hedges in Northern Ireland where Game of Thrones fans will recognise some of the locations featured on the show.
Other walks will lead you to discover the highest waterfall in England whilst enjoying a beautiful walk through The Howgill Fells. This being one of the most popular hikes in the Yorkshire Dales, you’ll be able to discover a range of stunning locations such as the Cautley Spout and the Calf. While in the north, you can try the Malhamdale walk, with a 400 step climb to the peak of Malham Cove, followed by a walk through stunning woodland. This is their reccommendation for a great pub walk! For adventurers they recommend a 13 day excursion through the Highlands of Scotland stretching for 96 miles from Milngavie to Fort William, you’ll discover an assortment of different sceneries ranging from steep mountains to open moorlands.
Their favourite marine coastline is the Causeway Coast Way, where you'll discover a variety of dramatic cliffs, sandy beaches and wide bays. Keep an eye out for some stunning wildlife, who knows you might even stumble across an Orca!
