After overindulging over the Christmas break, you won’t be alone in wondering just how soon is too soon to head to the spa. The answer, in case you were wondering, is it is never too soon.
Having spent the past few weeks tucking into succulent, rich food and watching Christmas films, no one would blame you for wanting to have a little detox and pamper, so you’re fit, healthy and ready to take on the new year. With this in mind, why not head down to Devon before the working year gets back into full swing and take advantage of some of the amazing health and leisure centres that the region has to offer.
Whether health and leisure means getting some treatments at a spa or doing several laps of the gym, you’ll find something that suits you. Many of the spas in Devon cater for groups and plenty of them are based in hotels, so you can also stay on site and take advantage of the restaurants. Though we suspect after all that turkey and roast veg, you might want to stick to the lighter menu choices! These spa hotels are just as welcoming to non guests if you just wanted to spend a few hours chilling out, so whether you want to stretch out the pampering or just visit for the day, the spas and leisure centres of Devon can cater for you.
Beyond Escapes’ Be You Spa and Gym is a great choice for anyone wanting to get rid of all the toxins and stresses of the past few weeks and refresh themselves before heading back to work. Not only do you have the spa offering a whole range of treatments, but also the gym where you can get your heart pumping. Plus they are set in the quirky town of Totnes, where you can browse the after Christmas sales! If you don’t want to stay on site, head to nearby Paignton and stay at Whitehill Country Park, which is family-friendly and you can see in the New Year in one of their luxury glamping lodges!

Sidmouth’s Victoria Hotel has a great Spa and Leisure centre, including two swimming pools, a tennis court and a golfing green, so whatever helps you chill out and get your head back in the game, you can find it here. You could stay on site, or if you’d rather have the chance to explore some of the neighbouring attractions, book yourself on to Ladram Bay Holiday Park and spend some time walking off all that Christmas lethargy by doing an Explore Devon Treasure Trail.

It isn’t all about the spas either, you’ll find swimming pools, sports centres and opportunities to get out into nature for a bracing coastal or countryside walk in all areas of Devon, it really is the perfect place to reinvigorate yourself after the Christmas break!
