The very best of Devon’s tourism industry came together to celebrate and recognise their contributions to the county’s tourism at the Devon Tourism Awards on 22nd November.
A number of Visit Devon members were awarded, with trophies supplied by Dartington Crystal and awards sponsored by high profile businesses from across the country.
Members Lee Byre, Coryton and Yarner House, Bovey Tracey received Silver and Bronze respectfully in the B&B and Guesthouse of the Year award. Bovey Tracey’s businesses received several mentions during the evening, with Home Farm Café getting Silver in the Café/Tearoom of the Year category and Bovey Castle winning Gold for Large Hotel of the Year and Bronze for Dog Friendly Business of the Year. While Stowford Farm Meadows received Silver. The Great Western Restaurant at Bovey Castle were awarded Silver for Restaurant/Bistro of the Year, with Glazebook House Hotel claiming Gold.
Stowford Farm Meadows were highlighted again during the evening after getting Highly Commended in the Touring Camping and Caravanning Park of the year category. Several Visit Devon members were nominated for this category, with Langstone Manor Holiday Park in Tavistock getting Gold, Andrewhayes Holiday Park getting Silver and Appledore Park getting Bronze.
Glazebrook House Hotel also received another honour, with Silver in the Small Hotel/Boutique Accommodation of the Year, with the Cary Arms and Spa getting Bronze and Lympstone Manor Hotel getting Gold.
The Cary Arms and Spa were also named Bronze in the Spa, Pampering and Well-being Experience of the Year.
It was a great night for Lympstone Manor, who were also named Winer of Winners.
Visit Devon members also did well in the Holiday Park and Village of the Year category, with Cofton Holidays getting Gold, Lady’s Mile getting Silver and South Bay Holiday Park getting Bronze.
Cofton Holidays were also honoured with Silver in the Responsible and Ethical Tourism Category, with The Old Kennels getting Gold.
Visit Devon members did really well in the Glamping and Alternative Accommodation of the Year award, Longlands, Combe Martin received Gold, Devon Yurt won Silver and Cuckoo Down Farm getting Bronze.
Quince Honey Farm in South Molton had a good night, receiving two Silver awards for Small Attraction of the Year and Learning Experience of the Year, while Salcombe Distilling Co, got Bronze and scored a second Bronze in the Tourism Innovation and New Business Award.
They weren’t the only distillery to be recognised, Plymouth Gin received two Silver awards, one in the Access and Inclusivity Award, with the Haytor Hotel getting Bronze, and for Guided Tour of the Year, with Unique Devon Tours getting Gold.
Plymouth’s The Duke of Cornwall Hotel received Bronze in the Business Tourism and Venue Award category and the village of Clovelly were recognised with a Bronze in the International Visitor Experience of the Year Award. The Millbrook Inn received Silver for the Tourism Pub of the Year. The Tourism Event of the Year Gold trophy was given to Glasdenbury Music and Arts Festival.
In Large Attraction of the Year, The Donkey Sanctuary had Gold, the Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery had Silver and World of Country Life was Highly Commended and the Milky Way’s Trevor Stanbury was recognised for Outstanding Contribution to Devon Tourism.
Well done to all of Visit Devon’s members who were recognised, it was a great night and congratulations to all Devon businesses that received awards.
