If you haven’t stayed in a hotel or B&B then you know someone that has, we all have memories and experiences of staying in these establishments and Devon is full of amazing, award-winning accommodation from huge corporate hotels to small intimate B&Bs. Your choice of accommodation doesn’t stop there though, have you ever considered a farm holiday?
For anyone that lives in a city or somewhere far away from rolling greenery, visiting Devon is sure to be a magical experience, but you can enhance that countryside adventure by staying on one of Devon’s many working farms. Not only will you get a chance to enjoy the county’s natural beauty and the opportunity to stay in some unique properties, such as converted barns or picture-perfect thatched cottages, but you’ll also find hosts with a wealth of local knowledge and farm fresh local produce.
A farm holiday is a great choice for anyone looking for a family-friendly location. Many of the farms offering this service are happy to let the children join in with egg-collecting and checking on any new-borns if you’re staying in the Spring. Of course, children are always enchanted by animals, especially if they aren’t ones they see very often, it can be a unique opportunity to introduce them to cows, horses, sheep and more, plus what better way to educate them about where their food comes from than staying at the heart of it.
There are other benefits to staying on a farm too, though the lambs are a big draw, there’s the chance to stroll around vast expanses of land, breathing in fresh country air, lying beneath unpolluted skies, feeling like a proper local and falling asleep to the gentle sounds of farm animals are all pros of this kind of holiday.
There are several properties that offer farm holidays in Devon from all over the county.
