Ever explored Fernworthy in the autumn? On Friday 27 October join Kit Hancock, South West Lakes Trust Countryside Warden, on a 2 hour guided walk around this stunning Dartmoor Reservoir and enjoy some of the most breath-taking scenery within the National Park.
The walk, which will commence at 10.30am, will take you through meadows, woodland and moorland, offering fantastic views of the water, local wildlife and Bronze Age hut circles. On a good day you will also be able to see the autumnal leaves reflected in still water which creates a stunning effect. Don’t forget to ask Kit about the legend of the Fernworthy Earth Gnomes!
This walk is free to attend but donations will be gratefully received. For more information or to book your place visit www.swlakestrust.org.uk/events. Attendees require appropriate footwear and waterproofs.
Fernworthy Reservoir is nestled in the heart of Dartmoor National Park, adjacent to the idyllic village of Chagford. Over the last 18 months South West Lakes Trust have been busy enhancing the visitor experience at the Reservoir. In partnership with Dartmoor National Park Authority, the ‘Moor Than Meets The Eye’ landscape project has enabled us to vastly improve the surface and accessibility of the much loved wheelchair and buggy accessible Potters Walk, part of a 2.6 mile circular route that takes in the best that Fernworthy Reservoir has to offer.
The public toilets in the main car park have also been refurbished to provide modern, unisex accessible toilets and, to top it all off, we have recently been joined by the fabulous Peace & Coffee who, along with their fabulous Piaggio Ape “Pooh”, are now supplying that much needed delicious ethically sourced, organic coffee and light refreshment which you will almost certainly need after (or before) exploring Fernworthy.
