About

The Miniature Pony Centre is a hands-on day out for all the family, bursting with enchanting ponies and fluffy friends and overflowing with cuteness! The Centre is a seasonal attraction open from spring to autumn (April to the end of October) and nestled in the hills of Dartmoor National Park - please view our website for details and to check if we are currently open to start your ponytastic day out!

Dashing Unicorns, frolicking foals, magnificent Miniature Shetlands, gentle giant horses, pint sized micro-pigs, massive mammoth donkeys are all waiting to greet you at the Miniature Pony Centre! Come and meet our new animals for 2022, gorgeous Boer goats and Valais sheep – lineages from South Africa and Switzerland!

The Miniature Pony Centre is expecting 6 Miniature Shetland Foals and potentially 2 Mediterranean donkey foals this year! These absolutely beautiful babies are normally born around March-May, but stay unbelievably cute for the whole season. After 10 days with mum they are able to have limited contact with customers, in increasing amounts the older they get, so come and get up close with an adorable fur baby!

We pride ourselves on the hands-on experience you can have here. Free activities throughout the day such as pony walking, animal feeding and pony herding give you a real idea of the daily tasks involved with animals. Pony rides are also back this year! There will be some changes in how they are run but are available for children aged 3-10. Being able to enter both our front paddock and main barn and get up close with the animals is a special experience for many of our visitors and allows you to take away cherished interactions.

Come and visit our unicorns every day we are open, sparkling in their rainbow stables they can’t wait to meet you! Keep an eye out for our Unicorn Day event in 2022, sure to be filled with dazzling magic, wonderful activities, and happy memories. We will also be hosting other event days, watch our social media and website for announcements.

Our soft play areas are opening once again after a covid induced hiatus, alongside the outdoor play areas, Fort Bovey, trampolines, nature trail, and zip wire there’s be playtime for hours. Activities will still be run with covid safety measures in place, and there are plenty of outside play areas. Sneeze guards are still in place, antibacterial hand stations are placed around the Centre, and we will continue to ask our customers to wear masks inside the shop and café.

Looking for a pony party? How about a Miniature Pony Centre party?! With updated party packages this year you’re sure to find something perfect to ensure a special day is had by all. See our website for more details.

New for 2022 are our Pony Club meetings, held on Saturdays on fixed dates these are special sessions to engage with the care of ponies and their daily routines more fully. This is a day at the stables getting to understand the points of care for our wonderful horses. We hope this will be educational and give some insight into the effort that it takes to care for animals. You must pre-book onto these sessions, please find out more on our website.

Our café offers a selection of hot and cold food and drinks, including paninis, jacket potatoes and sandwiches. Delicious Langage Farm ice cream is available along with various cakes and tiffin’s, pair with a unicorn hot chocolate when the weather turns cold! Coffees, teas, frappes and milkshakes are served all year. We work with local suppliers from neighbouring villages and across Devon to source the highest quality ingredients.

The Miniature Pony Centre is a place for a special day out, filled with activities, learning about and interacting with our fantastic animals, the cutest photo opportunities and making wonderful, cherished memories to take away with you. Come and visit us today on the edge of Dartmoor for a ponytastic day out!
