“Stone Lane Gardens is a gem.” - Joe Swift, garden designer and broadcaster.
Amongst the gently rolling hills of the North East corner of Dartmoor National Park lies a garden unlike any other. Open to the public daily from 10am till 6pm, or till dusk in Winter, Stone Lane Gardens holds a National Collection of Birch and Alder through which spring-fed streams form glistening water gardens. In summer the Gardens feature a prestigious Annual Summer Sculpture Exhibition presenting young and established sculptors’ work set within the arboretum. New plantings scattered across a hillside wildflower meadow add an extension to the established National Collection. Here footpaths mown though the natural landscape lead up to spectacular views of the Moor stretching from Haytor Rocks to Cosdon Hill. Located in a traditional Devon cob barn, Garden visitors can enjoy the new Tea Room which when open serves teas, coffee, cakes and Devon Cream Teas.
