Historic Market Building with 30+ resident businesses and Markets every Tuesday and Saturday. Comprising of a diverse collection of shops along Market Place, Studios in Butcher's Row and a huge Market Hall which hosts the weekly Markets as well as further permanent businesses! Easy access to all areas with facilities such as toilets, free WiFi and children’s play area. Everything is undercover, so a great place to visit in all weathers. The market is also dog friendly.
The building was constructed in 1884 to house the bustling Market which has been running in the Town of Bideford since the first Market Charter of 1272! The Market has changed and evolved and is held dear in the memories of the local community.
Bideford Pannier Market is now one of the South West’s best Arts and Crafts hubs with local makers and creators operating from their workshops in the original Market units. Very little has changed 140 years.
The food offering has increased too, with various businesses offering a diverse range of hot and cold food.
Market days are now busy again and fresh produce is making a comeback. This adds to the food offering as new traders are starting all the time on our popular Market days.
The building is worth a visit in it’s own right, but if you want to see it really bustling, come along to a Saturday Market or one of our special events. We have a full events progamme and will be running more Food and Drink Festivals among others in 2022.
From any direction head into central Bideford. Find somewhere to park either on the Quay or in Bridge Street Car Park and there’s a short walk up the hill to the Market.
There is also 1 hour free parking in the spaces around the Market building.
There are buses from the local area to Bideford and the Pannier Market is a short walk up the High Street from the main bus stops on the Quay.
