Palace Theatre Paignton

Book Tickets Online

About

Take your seats and let the show begin as the curtain rises at one of Devon’s favourite community theatres. With performances and events running 50 weeks of the year you will be sure to find something to suit your tastes, from popular dramas to top-name entertainers and of course a very popular Panto season – oh yes there is!

Benefiting from a major refurbishment in 2006, the 368 seats provide not just comfort but excellent viewing from all areas. You can select and book your seats online 24/7 and enjoy pre-show and interval drinks in the bar. The Palace Theatre is in the heart of Torbay, just a 2-minute walk from Paignton town centre and with free roadside evening parking.

Bravo! Encore! You’ll want to keep coming back for more.

Bijou Theatre Productions in one of several companies with a long connection to the Palace.  Bijou runs an annual Agatha Christie production which began in 1984 with ‘Towards Zero’. Since then Bijou has performed an Agatha Christie summer season almost every year at the Palace.  Born in Torquay in 1890, Agatha Christie ‘The Queen of Crime’ remains, the best-selling novelist of all time. She is best known for her 66 detective novels and 14 short story collections but in the 1930s she began a ‘second career’ as a record-breaking playwright, penning plot-twisting mysteries including the world’s longest-running play, ‘The Mousetrap’.

After the success of last year’s production of ‘Black Coffee’ Bijou Theatre is back in 2020 with ‘Spider’s Web’ in which Christie delivers a unique blend of suspense and humour weaving an intricate web of murder, police, drug addicts, invisible ink, hidden doorways and secret drawers.

Bijou reviews:

It was fantastic!, local amateur group, and they were excellent.

Every production is a perfect little jewel, this company can always be trusted to deliver.

The suspense was superb and we were on the edge of our seats right till the end.

Another regular at the Palace is the award winning Paignton Pantomime Productions who have developed a very loyal following over the years, form their first production ‘Babes in the Wood’ in 1935 right up to date with jack and the Beanstalk in 2020/21.

We work hard to accommodate all access requirements so please do not hesitate to contact us before booking and we will advise on the best way for you to enjoy your theatre visit.

There are dedicated wheelchair spaces in the auditorium.  The entrance has ramped access and on entering the theatre there is level access to the auditorium, bar and disabled toilet. There are several disabled parking spaces on Palace Avenue, immediately across the road from the Theatre entrance. Within the auditorium rows A – D are on the level, with steps to access rows E upwards.  Guests with limited mobility may prefer to select alternative seats if they are able to leave their wheelchairs. There is a hearing loop in the auditorium.

‘More events, bigger audiences and a wider programme from the Palace Theatre’ and ‘an incredible effort from an amazing team of staff’ combined to result in a win for Jazz Hands CIC for the management of the Palace Theatre; South Devon Business Award for the best start-up business, less than 18 months after taking over the management of the closure-threatened theatre in May of 2018. Having already won two silver awards in this year’s English Riviera Tourism Awards, for Access and Inclusivity and for Tourism Innovation, this win is undoubtedly the icing on the cake for the Palace.
