Moors & More Tours provides bespoke guided tours around Dartmoor for up to 5 people with your own chauffeur and storyteller guide taking you to the scenes of many of Dartmoor’s famous and infamous myths and legends with a slant towards the spooky and the weird. David your guide trained as an actor back in the 80s and when his first job brought him down to Torbay he got his first glimpse of the beauty that is Dartmoor and was smitten! Following his interest in the paranormal he set up his own ghostbusting group and immersed himself in all the spooky tales of the moor. Now along with his trusty chauffeur he wants to share his passion with all who care to ride with them. Along the way you will see some of the most breathtaking scenery the South West has to offer and be given the chance to stop at a local eaterie for a spot of lunch.
We run two basic tours The Devil’s Quest and The Dartmoor Quest both of which can be added to keeping them unique to the individual customer.
Devil’s Quest is a more circular route following the path taken by the Devil himself when he came to claim the soul of one Jan Reynolds who was foolish enough to make a pact with him. Along the way we will visit The Tavistock Inn where the Devil stopped for directions, Widecombe in the Moor where the Devil found Jan playing cards in the church on a Sunday and The Warren House Inn which has a lasting memorial to Jan as this was the last place he was seen.
Dartmoor Quest follows a south to north route starting at the ruined church in Buckfastleigh which holds the tomb of the infamous Squire Cabal, inspiration for the wicked landowner in Conan Doyle's Hound of the Baskervilles. Then it heads over Holne Moor towards Princetown before heading north taking in the heights of Brentor Church and the sights of the village of Lydford.
Give us a call and plan the highlight to your visit to the Westcountry...you won’t regret it!
