Activities in Devon

There are a whole host of activities available in Devon for you to enjoy during your trip. Discover the great Devon outdoors with the wide range of  watersports, cycling, adventure sports, walking, climbing, fishing, riding ... and more!

Visiting Devon will give you the chance to learn to surf in the spectacularly rugged coastline of North Devon, head out on your bike into the hills of Exmoor National Park, trek the South West Coast Path in South Devon, or try your hand at sailing from Dartmouth or Salcombe. The number of activities in Devon are never ending!

Why not take the kids and explore the Geopark on the English Riviera or try coasteering, jet skiing or scuba diving? Geocaching has become an increasingly popular activity nationwide and in Devon, with the many varied landscapes it’s a pretty good location to give it a go. There are geocaching trails all over the county, meaning that wherever you go, you can try it out either in the countryside or on the coastal paths. Plus is is a great way to get the kids out into the outdoors you'll find many caches hidden across the county. There are some applications available for smart phones and tablets that let you track your finds, which can help the kids discover more about the world around them. For those that want something a bit more gentle, there are a host of arts and crafts activities going on all over the region, as well as a variety of leisure activities, such as spas, golf courses and gym sessions.

Devon is also the place to be for watersports, there are activity centres and leisure instructors who offer tuition and more to those who want to try something new or challenge themselves. Many of Devon’s activity center’s cater for birthday parties, stag and hen groups and offer activities for colleagues on work outings.

Activities don’t have to end there. You can discover the wilder side of Devon by climbing a tor, camping under the stars, exploring the area on horse back, or fishing in the Dart on Dartmoor National Park. The annual dark skies festival offers a whole range of activities giving you the chance to experience the beautiful, pollution free skies above Devon while also learning more about landscape around you. If that isn’t quite active enough, swing through the trees or power down the woodland tracks at Haldon Forest or spend a few hours at Skern Lodge or Go Ape and test your endurance as you climb and swing from ledge to ledge.

For those of you who want to challenge yourself, there are different activities available. You can even ski all year round at some of Devon’s activity centres or just go for a stroll in the fresh air and the glorious countryside, there’s plenty of it!

Adventure Sports
