Are you bringing the family to Sidmouth over the next couple of months? If so, here are some suggestions of things to do while you in town. Sidmouth might be small, but it is mighty, there are plenty of events, activities and attractions to keep you entertained, no matter what your age!
Come to one of our events
Summer in Sidmouth is super busy – not only do we have the annual Air Show in August, but there is also the Folk Festival, which holds a variety of events, activities and performances all over the town – there are even specific children’s activities. Explore the wider area
Being based in Sidmouth puts you on the Jurassic Coast where you can pick up the South West Coast Path or do a spot of fossil hunting. Or why not follow the Blue Plaque trail or follow the trails around the Byes and explore the meadow? Sidmouth is in East Devon where you’ll also find the East Devon Way and a host of lovely nature reserves and other places to spend a few hours.
Spend a day at the beach
With both the Town Beach and Jacob’s Ladder, there are plenty of opportunities for playing on the beach. During the summer there are organisations offering watersport tuition and sessions for those with more experience. There are a host of amenities available along the Esplanade, so you’re never too far away from a refreshing ice cream or a new bucket and spade.
Do a spot of shopping
One of the things we love about Sidmouth is the diverse high street, whether you’re on the hunt for big brands or want something quirky and alternative, why not spend a few hours wandering around the shops? Whatever your age, we’re sure you’ll find something that will take your fancy.
Visit one of the region’s attractions
Devon is full of wonderful things to do, from theme parks to animal parks and just about everything else you can think of. There are a host of family friendly things to do along the Jurassic Coast and a little further afield, Sidmouth is only half an hour from the centre of Exeter where you can find the historic cathedral or visit museums, theme parks and more.
