The team at Oakdown Holiday Park on the outskirts of Sidmouth are pleased to announce that they have recently installed a new defibrillator at the park, adding to the number of life saving devices in and around the town. At Oakdown, it is hoped that the device will never need to be used, but visitors can be assured, that should there be a medical emergency that help is on hand.

Defibrillators, also known as AEDs are devices that give high energy electric shocks to someone who is in cardiac arrest. The shock is an essential part in saving the life of someone who is in a medical emergency and each device provides simple instructions so that members of the public can get the process started before paramedics arrive. In recent years, there has been a growing demand for AEDs to be easily accessible to the public and as a result, they can now be found in a variety of locations including village halls and shops, as well as sports facilities and now, Oakdown Holiday Park.

According to Park owner, Alistair Franks, who received delivery of the defibrillator, it is the hope that it is never used.

Oakdown is an award-winning family run park just minutes away from the Jurassic Coast and offers quality touring, camping and caravan holiday accommodation.
