On Saturday 4th December there will be carol singing, live music, walk-about performers and the annual children’s lantern parade to celebrate the start of the festive season.

This free, family-friendly mini-festival hopes to welcome the community back together with warmth and light to celebrate the Town’s creativity. The Primary Schools within Exmouth have been invited to participate in making willow lanterns, which Exmouth Town Council is providing the materials for. The children will have the opportunity to use their creative skills to design and make an environmentally friendly lantern and wow the spectators with their imaginatively crafted handiwork at the parade.

Starting at 4pm local choirs and musicians will be performing on a temporary stage in the Strand. They will be accompanied by festive walk-about performers including roller-skating presents, light up hula hoopers and larger than life animals. The children’s lantern parade will set off at 5.30pm and lead the way to the Christmas tree light switch on at 6pm.

Councillor Steve Gazzard, Mayor of Exmouth said: “We’re delighted to be hosting a winter celebration that will bring the community together with music and light. It’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy being back amongst friends and to welcome in the festive season together.
