In October half term, the Donkey Sanctuary is hosting An Adorably Curious Adventure where guests are invited to have their own little adventure while at the sanctuary by following the trail and activities as you go to claim a prize! While you’re there, you can also enjoy the daily talks, scenic walks, exhibits, gardens and of course the herds of donkeys!

Looking forward to bonfire night, just fifteen minutes from Sidmouth centre is the town of Ottery St Mary and their famous Tar Barrel event. The annual event which takes place around 5th November, sees flaming tar barrels being carried through the streets, something that dates back to the 17th century. The barrels are lit up outside each of Ottery’s pubs and are then carried in a procession down to one of the biggest bonfires in the south west. Find out more here.

As we head into winter, there are plenty of Christmas themed events to get you in the celebratory spirit.

The Sidmouth Christmas Lights Switch-on is taking place on 20th November, featuring music from Vine and Dandy and the chance for children to win £100 toy vouchers.

A few days later on 3rd December is the Late Night Shopping in Sidmouth town centre. This year will include the La La Choir to the Market Square who will be performing an array of Christmas songs and carols. Kyle Baker will have a photo booth to help you capture those memories and talented dancers from the East Devon Dance Academy will be providing the entertainment. It’s a great way to support the local high street and get some unique gifts for the big day.

The Sidmouth Town Band will also be back this Christmas with their Annual Christmas Concert – something not to be missed.
