With everything that has happened in 2020, we’re sure you’re with us when we say that we’re looking forward to putting it behind us and getting back to a more normal way of life. Thankfully, the people of Sidmouth are here to help that happen – a number of the town’s best loved events have already announced their dates for 2021, so here is everything you have to look forward to next year!

Sidmouth Folk Festival

The folk festival may not have happened this year, but the team still worked hard to keep the spirit of folk alive. With their crowd funding campaign, live streams and other activities, they’ve managed to get us excited for next year’s event.

The folk festival will take place between 30th July and 6th August.

The Sidmouth Science Festival

The Science Festival was one of the events that did manage to take place this year, with lots of events happening online and school children getting involved in various activities as part of the festival. Next year, it is hoped that the festival can operate as normal, it is scheduled for 8th – 17th October.

Sidmouth Sea Festival

Sidmouth’s Sea Festival was another one that couldn’t go ahead because of covid restrictions and when it returns next year, it’ll be the first event on the Ham since its closure! The Festival is set to take place on 22nd May 2021 with a theme of Rockpools, Reefs and Reconnecting.

Sidmouth Airshow

The Airshow was one of our most missed events of 2020, sadly the event had to be cancelled for this year due to social distancing, however, the council have announced that it will return next year with a provisional date of 27th August.

Sidmouth Regatta

While the details haven’t been released for the regatta next year, the organisers are working on the event for 2021 and it is expected to be in August as usual.

Sidmouth Walking Festival

The Walking Festival will be returning with a host of different walks around the region in September with the dates being announced as 18th – 24th September.

Tar Barrel Rolling (Ottery St Mary)

While not in Sidmouth, Ottery St Mary is just a short journey away. Tar Barrel Rolling is a tradition that has survived the test of time and 2020 was the first time in a long time that it couldn’t go ahead. We’re excited at the prospect of celebrating Bon Fire night the Devon way in 2021!

This are just some of the events taking place in and around the town in 2021, make sure to keep checking the What’s On pages to find out the latest dates!
