Welcome to boutique luxury on the Jurassic Coast. Consistently ranked one of the top hotels in Sidmouth on Trip Advisor, we are a family-run boutique hotel in the heart of this beautiful seaside town on the East Devon coast.
We are a pet-friendly hotel offering spacious rooms, a tranquil private garden and terrace, locally sourced food and a fully stocked bar – all just a light stroll from Sidmouth seafront.
Once owned by Sir Walter Raleigh, the Woodlands Hotel is one of the most historic hotels in Sidmouth. As far back as the 13th century, a dwelling sat on the current Woodlands site. In 1971, archaeologists searching beneath the hotel discovered a network of ancient tunnels and a domed subterranean chamber.
The hotel’s central location makes it easy for you to discover the many things to do in Sidmouth and the local area – from dinosaur bones and vintage shops, to sandy beaches and the world-renowned Sidmouth Folk Festival which is hosted by the town every August.
We have 18 light and spacious bedrooms, consisting of:
A Family Suite which features two good sized bedrooms fitted with super king beds that can comfortably accommodate adults or children. The beds can also be configured as four singles.
Superior Plus rooms, all of which overlook the beautiful garden
Superior rooms, standard doubles or twins, and three single rooms.
All of our ground floor rooms have walk-in showers, ideal for those with accessibility requirements.
We pride ourselves on the high-quality standard and finish of our rooms, each with its own unique character. Some of our rooms come with charming high barrel ceilings, and some with views of the beautiful gardens and terrace. We want to accommodate your preferences wherever possible, so just ask us when you get in touch.
Car parking and EV charging
We have a car parking space for every room and the hotel will ensure you have a space during your stay. We also have charging points for electric vehicles.
Drink & dine at The Woodlands Hotel
We offer rates for both bed & breakfast and dinner inclusive packages. Our elegant and spacious restaurant overlooking the terrace can seat up to 60 people.
For morning coffee or evening relaxation, our light and airy conservatory and adjoining bar are wonderful places to sip a drink or stop for a snack or coffee.
In finer weather – which we’re lucky enough to see a lot of in this corner of the south west – you can choose your spot on the sunny terrace to enjoy an early evening drink, a delicious Devon cream tea or to just sit back and soak up the glorious setting.
