Dukes Inn prides itself on providing good value, comfortable, ensuite accommodation and a relaxed feel in the bar and public areas. Whether you’re in Sidmouth for the day, a weekend break or on your summer holidays, Dukes is open all day, every day to eat, drink or stay with a welcoming atmosphere and amazing facilities. Come join us and enjoy our newly refurbished ground floor area.
Based in one of Sidmouth seafront oldest and most historic buildings, Dukes Inn retains this charm, complimented with contemporary touches and modern amenities from our cosy singles to our large family rooms. The Dukes Inn walls form part of the 13th Century St Peter’s Chapel, which belonged to Otteron Priory and, the awarchway from the original Chapel door can be seen at the inn separating the dining room and conservatory. Steeped in history and comfort, Dukes Inn is a great place to base yourself for exploring East Devon and the Jurassic Coast.
All our bedrooms are individual, warm and inviting, many with stunning sea views. Choose from thirteen individual ensuite bed and breakfast rooms, all of them decorated to the highest standards. Every room comes complete with a flat screen TV, coffee machines, ironing facilities, refreshments trays and complimentary, free WiFi. All of our comfortable bed and breakfast rooms are non-smoking and several are suitable for families, being larger and having rooms for extra beds. So, whether you are looking for a relaxing stay for two or a base for your family holiday, Dukes Inn is here for you.
Serving some of Devon’s best food and drink, from Branscombe Ales, Sandford’s Orchards Cider, Luscombe Juices and award-winning local wines, you’ll be sure to find a relaxed, informal dining experience at our restaurant. Join us for a laid back Saturday lunch, a special occasion celebration or just a morning coffee and cake. Dukes Inn’s restaurant are previous winners of a Devon Tourism Highly Commended Pub of the Year Award and our Executive Head Chef runs a busy kitchen, baking all cakes in house and with a daily, seasonal menu of fresh, locally sourced food. Keep an eye out for our ever changing daily specials, giving you the option of something special, something different, something wholesome and something fresh, every day of the week!
The restaurant’s themed specials include superb fresh fish and chips, 28 day hung steaks and Devon seafood nights, created using the freshly caught produce from the region.
Don’t forget to pop in on a Sunday for the popular Sunday Lunch menu including all the traditional fare, plus Sunday Roast Specials and Sunday Roast Sandwiches, available with Vinnicombe’s bread, chips and gravy.
The restaurant team are happy to cater for every occasion with relaxed, informal food. Those with special diets or allergies are also catered for, with pizzas available with vegan cheese and sandwiches made with gluten free bread. So, amble on down and enjoy brunch, a cosy lunch or a full on dinner! Meals are served in our bar, restaurant and the sea-facing patio garden, an idyllic setting for a light summer lunch or evening meal watching the sun set.
In fine weather, our patio garden is perfectly situated to bask in the sun, whilst enjoying a morning coffee, cheeky tipple or daytime snack. In the cooler summer months, the warmth and comfort of the bar and conservatory offer the perfect place to escape from the elements. If its relaxation, rambling or rock pools you are looking for, we are ideally situated to offer the best of Sidmouth.
For those visiting for the first time, Sidmouth lies on the famous Jurassic Coast, a world heritage coastline boasting majestic sandstone cliffs and countless fossils. Sidmouth is home to a host of quality, independent shops offering a mix of unique items. These hidden gems can be found among the familiar stores of the town centre, alongside an array of bars, coffee shops and restaurants.
Guests will find an abundance of activities to keep the whole family entertained, including coastal paths, climbs and relaxing on the beach. If you’re feeling particularly energetic, climb the 500 feet high Peak Hill to enjoy the magnificent views of Sidmouth and the coast below, or just while away the hours gently strolling through town, the park and along the sea front.
The Sid Valley that surrounds the town really highlights how breath-taking Devon’s rural scenery is, at its heart you’ll find The Byes, a National Trust owned park that follows the River Sid down to the sea, it’s the perfect spot for ball games, sunbathing, quiet reflection or getting back to nature with the family. It’s views like this that make us continue to strive to conserve the great Devon countryside, we are currently the owners of a Silver Green Tourism Award and aim to become even more eco-friendly in the coming years.
