Cadhay House

About

Cadhay is a beautiful and historic Tudor manor house located in Ottery St Mary in East Devon, only a short distance from Sidmouth town centre. With lily coated ponds and beautiful gardens, Cadhay is a magnificent Tudor Manor house offering first class accommodation, a stunning venue for a range of occasions and a wonderful place to while away the hours in tranquil gardens.

The Manor House itself offers luxurious self-catering accommodation for up to 22 people, providing a remarkable and magical place to stay full of the grandeur of centuries past. Despite its history, Cadhay is far from a museum, the manor has been beautifully restored and offers modern comforts, it’s a truly comfortable place to stay in rural Devon with the past all around you and all the luxuries of the modern world.

Alongside the Manor House, there are three holiday cottages onsite, providing additional accommodation for 12-14 people. Two of the cottages sleep 6 and the third sleeps 2.
The Coach House is a large family friendly holiday cottage, it is the largest of the three cottages on the Cadhay Estate and overlooks the main house without infringing on the privacy. It is a light and spacious property with many of the original period features, excellent antiques, interesting paintings and good quality furnishings.

Next door is The Stables, which opens up directly into a walled garden converted into allotments which are used by the local community. The cottage has exposed beams, good quality furniture, and a cosy woodburner giving it a cosy, warm atmosphere. The well equipped kitchen gives you everything you need for a wonderful self catering break.

The smallest of the three cottages is the Cider Press. It is a single storey building standing on its own which has been converted into a comfortable cottage with either a double or twin room. It is spacious, filled with light and has panoramic views across the East Hill.

The house is licensed for Weddings and many couples have taken advantage of the Manor House and its grounds for their special day. It is a unique venue for a Devon wedding or house party to celebrate a landmark birthday, anniversary, reunion or other special occasion.
We are also privileged to host many parties and gatherings of family and friends. Cadhay offers a blend of history and charm within the peace and tranquility of the Devon countryside. The historical atmosphere combined with modern comforts provide incredible backdrops for wedding photos and with all the accommodation, your whole family can join you for your special day.

Cadhay provides a magnificent and calm setting to enjoy this moment important moment in your life. With the manor house, extensive grounds and holiday cottages, you have several options for your wedding and the whole event can be catered for your needs.

Cadhay is also open to the public, with the gardens on display every Friday between May and September. The estate holds open days with guided tours of the gardens and house which gives an insight into its vast history, dating back to the early 15th century.

The garden is beautiful, but not a formal show garden, providing endless joy for gardening enthusiasts who love the natural and informal design and relaxing atmosphere. From the house, you can look out over the gardens and have a seamless view over parkland and the stunning East Devon setting.

The house is located at Ottery St Mary in the heart of rural East Devon, ten miles east of Exeter and six miles from the sea at Sidmouth. Cadhay is open all year round for accommodation.
